At a special ceremony, in the presence of Commissioner Maria Gabriel, MEPs, diplomats, senior officials and industry leaders, Glavbolgarstroy celebrated two events – its fiftieth anniversary and the opening of its representative office in Brussels.

At the ceremony, Kalin Peshov, Member of the Supervisory Board of Glavbolgarstroy Holding, said that the company was found the year the Beatles made their last concert on the roof of the Apple Corp building, the year when Neil Armstrong stepped on the moon and the year when Concord made its first flight. “For the past 50 years, the world has not stopped changing, and so has Glavbolgarstroy. I believe that the opening of a representative office of Glavbolgarstroy in Brussels is a small step in the right direction of involving the company in the dialogue for the future of Europe.”

In addition to the communication opportunity with a wider range of stakeholders, the Holding will also rely on its new representative office for providing access to ideas from the European community, examples of modern approaches and technologies in the construction industry.

Glavbolgarstroy’s representative office is located in the heart of the European Quarter of Brussels, at “Belliard 40” building on “Rue de la Science” 15, within walking distance of the European institutions. Its opening coincides with the start of the new five-year political cycle of the European institutions, with a new Parliament, a new European Commission and a new President of the EU Council.

“Your sector plays an important role, generating growth and responding to the economic, social, energy and climate challenges,” said Maria Gabriel, Commissioner for Innovation, Research, Culture, Education and Youth, encouraging businesses to use all the tools provided by the Commission.

Kjetil Toning, President of the European Federation of the Construction Industry congratulated Glavbolgarstroy as the founder of the Bulgarian Construction Chamber, Member of the European Federation of the Construction Industry. “A company that has a fifty-year history has obviously been able to meet many challenges, and has therefore learned to anticipate and adapt to them,” he said.

This is by no means the first office of “Glavbolgarstroy” outside the Bulgarian border. In its 50 years of experience, the company has implemented projects in different countries in the regions of Eastern, Southeastern and Western Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
