GBS-Infrastructure Construction to repair covered parking lot at Terminal 2 of Sofia Airport
GBS-Infrastructure Construction and SOF Connect have officially signed a contract for the renovation of the covered parking lot at Terminal 2 of Sofia Airport. The implementation of this project holds strategic importance for the airport's development.
"We are pleased to partner with an industry leader like GBS-Infrastructure Construction for this crucial task. The company's wealth of knowledge and expertise gained from numerous successful projects instills confidence that, in the medium term, Sofia Airport will boast a renewed and fully functional covered parking facility," stated Jesus Caballero, CEO of SOF Connect.
"It is an honor for us to collaborate with a contractor of SOF Connect's caliber. With the execution of this project, we will create an even more comfortable and modern space at Sofia Airport, benefiting all travelers, the residents of our capital, and our guests. I guarantee that we will complete the project with high quality and within the scheduled timeframe," added Kamen Peshov, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Glavbolgarstroy Holding and GBS-Infrastructure Construction.
The renovation work on the four-story covered car park of Terminal 2 is set to commence in 2024 and is expected to take approximately one year to complete. In the interim, GBS-Infrastructure Construction plans to finalize the construction of an open parking lot with a capacity of over 1,000 spaces. This will provide passengers at Sofia Airport with an alternative parking option while the renovation of the closed parking area is underway. Upon the completion of both projects, Terminal 2 will offer a total of nearly 1,900 parking spaces.
GBS-Infrastructure Construction, a part of the corporate group of Glavbolgarstroy, specializes in large-scale projects in the transport and water infrastructure sector. Some of the company's notable recent construction projects include the southern arc of the Sofia ring road, three sections of the Struma motorway (including the innovative Zheleznitsa tunnel bridge), the Slivnitsa to Hrabarsko section on the Europa motorway, the new breakthrough along Philip Kutev Street, and more.
