“Glavbolgarstroy” and Siemens Energy signed a Memorandum of Understanding on major infrastructure projects in the country
The German Ambassador, H.E. Irene Maria Plank, emphasized the long-standing cooperation between the two countries on key projects for the Bulgarian economy and expressed her support for strengthening bilateral relations between Germany and Bulgaria
Glavbolgarstroy and Siemens Energy have signed a Memorandum of Understanding, outlining opportunities for establishing a long-term partnership between the two companies in the implementation of projects within the country and the broader region.
The signing took place during a special ceremony, which was opened with a welcome speech by the German Ambassador to Bulgaria, H.E. Irene Maria Plank, who highlighted the long-standing relations between Bulgarian and German businesses, with Siemens Energy representing over 45 years of partnership. The Ambassador highlighted that Siemens has already successfully carried out modernization work on several strategic projects in Bulgaria and is set to contribute to the construction of Units 7 and 8 at the Kozloduy Nuclear Power Plant in the future.
“I am convinced that a company like Siemens Energy, with its proven expertise, will make a significant contribution to the realization of this historic project—Bulgaria’s largest investment to date—the construction of Units 7 and 8 at Kozloduy Nuclear Power Plant. This is a perfect moment to emphasize that success cannot be achieved alone. Strong local partnerships and suppliers are key to a competitive industry and a stable energy future. The commitment of German businesses to cooperation with Bulgarian partners is a clear signal of the trust that has been built, as well as of the traditionally close economic collaboration between our two countries,” ambassador Plank stated to representatives of the Bulgarian business community.
The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Glavbolgarstroy and the German energy giant was signed by Eng. Konstantin Kisev, Member of the Board of Directors and Deputy Executive Director of Glavbolgarstroy International, and Andreas Schmidt, VP of Siemens Energy. Their signatures on the document reaffirm the long-term partnership and commitment of both companies in the energy sector.
It is worth noting that years ago, Glavbolgarstroy was chosen by the Federal Government of Germany for the construction of the new German Embassy building in Bulgaria. The new embassy is now operational, and the company is currently engaged in the demolition of the old embassy complex, applying the latest innovative practices in selective demolition and recycling of construction waste.
