Minister Avramova and Mayor Yordanka Fandakova inspect the construction of Sofia Ring Road
The construction of the new section of Sofia Ring Road between “Tsarigradsko Shose” and “Mladost” road junctions is progressing intensively and on schedule. This is the conclusion after today’s inspection carried out today by Minister of Regional Development and Public Works Petya Avramova and the Mayor of Sofia Yordanka Fandakova.
“When this section is completed, we will all be relieved,” said Mayor Fandakova. According to her the new route will significantly ease traffic in the capital.
Approximately 20 percent of the excavations and 15 percent of the embankments foreseen in the project have been completed. The pilot foundations, columns and crossbars of the bridge at “Lozen” junction have been completed. At the same time, the team is also woking on the construction of the pedestrian overpasses, pipelines, sewage systems, street lighting networks, telecommunications and power supply. Asphalt is to be laid in the section at “Lozen” road junction.
The project envisages the construction of 3 lanes in each direction or a total of 6 lanes in the direct route, middle dividing strip, dividing strips between the locales and the direct route, 2 local lanes and sidewalks. 4 road junctions will be built on two levels, three pedestrian overpasses, two bridges, a water supply, sewerage, telecommunications, street lighting and a gas distribution network.
