Balkan Climbing – the largest climbing gym in the Balkans – marked its first anniversary with an impressive event that gathered hundreds of enthusiasts, professionals, and climbing aficionados from across the country. The special guest of the celebration was two-time Olympic champion Janja Garnbret, one of the most influential figures in the world of sport climbing.

Held on February 28, the event brought together climbers of all skill levels at Balkan Climbing Gym and featured thrilling ascents and unforgettable moments. The spacious facility, equipped with the most advanced climbing infrastructure in the region, provided the stage for an exclusive demonstration by Garnbret. She took on four exceptionally challenging routes, graded between 8b and 8c+, designed by Bulgaria’s top route setters. The Olympic champion captivated the audience with her extraordinary technique and control.

A highlight of the event was an exclusive workshop led by Roman Krajnik – Janja Garnbret’s long-time coach and one of the most respected specialists in the climbing world. During the two-hour session, participants received invaluable guidance on preparation, mental strategies, and techniques for successful climbing. Krajnik emphasized the importance of mental resilience in achieving top athletic performance, explaining how to build confidence and maintain focus during climbs.

The event reinforced Bulgaria’s position as a key destination on the global climbing map. Balkan Climbing Gym is the largest climbing facility in the Balkans, featuring indoor and outdoor rope climbing walls spanning an area of 2,000 square meters. The walls range from 8 to 17 meters in height, offering over 300 routes and 40 TRUBLUE auto-belays for solo climbing. The gym also includes a dedicated 250-square-meter children’s area and a bouldering zone with more than 200 problems. Additionally, it boasts a professional speed climbing wall that meets IFSC standards and is suitable for visitors aged 4 to 75.
