Glavbolgarstroy received a ‘Sustainable Business’ award for the MOBICCON-PRO construction materials recycling project
The Confederation of Employers and Industrialists in Bulgaria and "Economics" magazine hosted their traditional "business Oscars" award ceremony for the winners of the "Mr. and Mrs. Economics" competition. At the 33rd edition of this year's event, Glavbolgarstroy Holding received the "Sustainable Business" prize for their construction materials recycling project, MOBICCON-PRO, which the company coordinates.
Boyan Tomov, the creator of ESGNews.bg, the first specialized media outlet for promoting ESG in Bulgaria, presented the "Sustainable Business" award to Albena Angelova, the executive director of "Glavbolgarstroy Holding."
"We will give a special award to a company that has built something exceptional that can be moved and serve different types of businesses," commented Tomov upon presenting the award.
"This award is a recognition of good and sustainable business practices, but it is also a call to action for the future and an indicator that our efforts are directed in the right direction. We understand our responsibility as builders and believe that innovation and sustainability go hand in hand. MOBICCON-PRO is a project that we will not only successfully implement to the end. More importantly, it is a project that will have a tangible impact on the construction sector, created entirely with the circular economy mission in mind," said the executive director of "Glavbolgarstroy Holding," Eng. Albena Angelova.
The international research project in the field of circular economy in construction, MOBICCON-PRO, is developed and managed by a consortium of 10 European organizations, led by Glavbolgarstroy. Partners from France, Belgium, Denmark, Bulgaria, and Serbia are participating in the project. In addition to the Bulgarian Glavbolgarstroy, the University of Architecture, Construction and Geodesy, the Institute for Economic Policy, and the supporting municipalities of Montana, Samokov, Slivnitsa, and Kostinbrod are committed to the idea. Other participants include the Danish Institute of Technology, the European Federation of the Construction Industry based in Brussels, the Belgian IDEA Consult, the Paris University CY, Cergy, and the Serbian municipality of Pirot.
The main goal of MOBICCON-PRO is the construction of a compact mobile pilot plant for the production of high-end recycled building materials. The compactness of this solution allows the facility to be located in different municipalities, as well as on the territory of other countries neighboring Bulgaria. Additionally, within the project, a territorial cluster center for the South-Eastern Europe region was launched in Sofia in May of this year. This center unites the experience and efforts of representatives from academic circles (universities and research technological institutes), public authorities, industry, the innovation community, small and medium enterprises, non-governmental and civil sectors.
