GBS in discussions on critical energy infrastructure supporting AI in Davos
The largest Bulgarian construction holding Glavbolgarstroy (GBS) - one of the few companies members of the World Economic Forum from the region of Southeastern Europe – attends this week the 2026 Annual Meeting at Davos.
Dr. Ann Bluntzer Pullin, Member of the Board of GBS, joined industrial leaders from all over the world, CEOs of major global energy and tech companies, financial institutions and academia representatives to discuss the pressing need of critical energy infrastructure that could support production and supply of reliable and efficient energy in the age of AI and digitalization.
Securing affordable and sustainable energy is the backbone for the economies globally, as the world accelerates fast toward digitalization, electrification, and decarbonization and energy systems face unprecedented pressure. Electricity demand grows substantially due to AI, data centers and advanced computing, reshaping the understanding of how energy is produced, distributed, protected, and consumed. The intersection of energy reliability, critical infrastructure, and AI currently became among the biggest challenges - and opportunities - of our time.
GBS is strongly committed to supporting the growing need of energy production and supply, being engaged in large-scale energy infrastructure projects with substantial importance for the region of Southeastern Europe. The company finalizes this year the construction of the Vertical Gas Corridor on the territory of Bulgaria, partners with Hyundai on the two new Westinghouse AP1000 nuclear reactors in Bulgaria, as well as on the deployment of up to four small modular reactors (SMRs) in the country.
