About the Bulgarian Network and the UN Global Compact

The Bulgarian Network of the UN Global Compact (BNGC) brings together companies, NGOs and educational institutions and since its establishment in 2011 has been the most active organization in the country in the field of Sustainable Development. The Network's professional expertise has been built over more than a decade within the largest global sustainability forum that has defined the ESG concept - the UN Global Compact.

The UN Global Compact, in turn, is the world's largest corporate sustainability initiative, with more than 23,000 members in over 160 countries. Former UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan's voluntary initiative brings together business and NGOs, academic institutions, cities and UN agencies in a global forum to support sustainable growth and civil society. The UN Global Compact's 10 principles focus on implementing responsible business practices in the areas of human rights, labour standards, environmental protection and anti-corruption. The seventeen specific UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are a global initiative aimed at addressing global issues such as poverty, hunger, inequality, climate change and others. These goals seek to strike a balance between economic growth, social well-being and environmental protection to improve the quality of life around the world and preserve the planet for future generations.
