Glavbolgarstroy participated in the Transatlantic Gas Security Summit in the US

The construction of the Vertical Gas Corridor is strengthening international energy cooperation between the United States and the Old Continent

Glavbolgarstroy took part in a Transatlantic Gas Security Summit, where discussions focused on the implementation of the Vertical Gas Corridor. The event was hosted by the U.S. National Energy Dominance Council, represented by its Chairman, Secretary of the Interior Doug Burgum, and Vice Chairman, Secretary of Energy Chris Wright. The forum was opened by the Council’s Executive Director Jarrod Agen, who emphasized the significant role the Vertical Gas Corridor plays in strengthening transatlantic relations between the United States and Europe.

Secretary of the Interior and Council Chair Doug Burgum noted that just a year ago the United States had restrictions on energy exports, whereas today it is a leading producer ensuring energy security for Europe as well. He stressed that sound energy policy is fundamental to economic stability, adding that energy must be reliable and affordable for consumers while also secure through resilient supply chains. Burgum underscored that strong transatlantic partnerships can foster prosperity and innovation in the era of artificial intelligence.

During the forum, Kalin Peshov, Chairman of the Management Board of Glavbolgarstroy, held discussions with Jarrod Agen and Ion Sterian, Director General of the Romanian gas transmission system operator Transgaz, regarding the progress of construction works on the Vertical Gas Corridor in Bulgaria.

Before representatives of U.S. and European administrations, Peshov presented the Bulgarian construction company’s long-standing commitment to modernizing and expanding Bulgaria’s gas transmission infrastructure—an effort directly linked to improving energy connectivity in Southeast Europe. The project’s importance was also emphasized by Burgum, who described the Vertical Gas Corridor as fundamental to long-term transatlantic energy relations between the United States and Europe.

A highlight of the event was the panel discussion “The Future of U.S.–Europe Energy Relations,” featuring Jack Fusco, CEO of Cheniere Energy. He underscored the essential role of U.S. LNG in ensuring energy security for American allies, noting that nearly two-thirds of U.S. liquefied natural gas production is delivered to Europe.

The European perspective was presented by Ditte Juul Jørgensen, Director-General for Energy at the European Commission, who highlighted strategic investments in energy infrastructure across Europe, including projects such as the Vertical Gas Corridor (VGC). She reaffirmed the commitment of European institutions to provide the necessary infrastructure to guarantee secure and sustainable energy supplies for Member States.

Michael Sabel, CEO of Venture Global, expressed hope for expanding the regasification capacity of LNG terminals in Europe, which would enable larger volumes of natural gas to reach European markets.

The forum emerged as a key platform for the future development of one of the most significant energy initiatives in Southeast and Central Europe—the Vertical Gas Corridor—designed to ensure natural gas supplies from reliable and diversified sources.
