The first 11 km of the Balkan stream route have been completed
Today, at an official ceremony the extension of the Balkan Stream gas pipeline in the section from the Bulgarian-Turkish border to Strandza compressor station was opened. The project, whose main contractor is Glavbolgarstroy, involves the planning, construction and exploitation of an 11 km gas pipeline and a gas metering station.
According to Minister Petkova, this is a key project for the realization of the Balkan gas hub concept that will provide an opportunity for diversification of the natural gas sources and routes and will increase energy security in the region.
The opening ceremony was attended by the Bulgarian Prime Minister Mr. Boyko Borissov, the Deputy Prime Minister Mr. Tomislav Donchev, the Minister of Energy Mrs. Temenuzhka Petkov, the CEO of Bulgartransgaz Mr. Vladimir Malinov, the Member of the Supervisory Board of Glavbolgarstroy Holding Mr. Kalin Peshov, the State Secretary of Information and International Representation of Hungary Mr. Tamas Menczer, the Deputy Minister of Energy of Saudi Arabia Mr. Aabed Abdullah Al-Saadoun, representatives of the local authorities and Members of Parliament.
