As active member of the Association, "Glavbolgarstroy" took part in the General Assembly event of Eurogas, the European association that brings together companies operating in the gas sector in Europe, last week in Rome.

Discussions were focused on the Association’s objectives, approval of the annual budget and election of the President and Board members of the organization. The opinion on pressing and important issues of all members was highly appreciated and taken into consideration. Critical points were outlined for which the position of Europe and all member state countries is essential in order to ensure independent supplies, storage and adequate distribution of the necessary quantities of fuels.

Within the framework of the event, the chairman of the Management Board of "Glavbolgarstroy Holding", Mr. Kalin Peshov, had the opportunity to discuss with the president of the Association Mr. Didier Holleaux the development of the gas market in Bulgaria and the measures that have been taken for the diversification of supplies and transmission of natural gas in the country. Currently, GBS is main contractor of several key energy projects of national interest, such as the expansion of the capacity of “Chiren” underground gas storage and the construction of the intersystem gas connection between Bulgaria and Serbia.

The General Assembly was preceded by a roundtable entitled “REPowerEU: Decarbonisation and Security of Gas Supply” to discuss the centrality of the gas sector in the perspective of the decarbonisation of economies and policy and regulatory choices with a view to a secure, sustainable and competitive transition. The roundtable, moderated by Alessandro Speciale, Rome Bureau Chief at Bloomberg, was opened by a message from the Minister of the Environment and Energy Security, Gilberto Picchetto Frattin, and a keynote speech by Ruud Kempener, Cabinet Member of the European Commissioner for Energy, Kadri Simson.
