This is what Kalin Marinov, head of the International Relations and Strategic Development Department at Glavbolgarstroy, said during the international conference "Financial Mechanism of the European Economic Area and Norway"

Kalin Marinov, head of International Partnership Relations at Glavbolgarstroy Holding, participated in the conference "Financial Mechanism of the European Economic Area and Norway," which this year focused on business cooperation and the European Green Deal. Marinov contributed to the panel dedicated to raw materials for achieving zero emissions goals.

In his presentation, he discussed the MOBICCON-PRO project, implemented under the EU's research and innovation framework program Horizon Europe. The initiative aims to develop new practices at each phase of the waste management cycle, from the demolition of buildings to the construction process—not only in Bulgaria but also throughout the South-Eastern Europe region.

Measures are planned to optimize the stages of the process: pre-demolition audit, selective demolition, transport, recycling, certification of new construction materials from recycled raw materials, and their subsequent use in the construction process. The project involves not only the coordinator Glavbolgarstroy but also partners from the scientific and research community, such as the University of Architecture, Construction and Geodesy (Bulgaria), Sergi University (France), Danish Institute of Technology (Denmark), the non-governmental sector—Institute for Economic Policy (Bulgaria), business—IDEA (Belgium), and the public sector—Municipality of Pirot (Serbia).

"Our project MOBICCON-PRO introduces a completely new concept in the treatment of construction waste, using it as a resource and returning it back to the construction process or to the market. The innovative practices of selective demolition and management of construction waste, which are embedded in the project, aim to reduce the volume of primary raw materials used in the construction process and lower CO2 emissions. I am glad that the project has found many supporters and potential partners," said Kalin Marinov, head of the International Relations and Strategic Development Department at Glavbolgarstroy, during the panel "Raw materials for achieving zero emission goals."

Elisabeth Svanholm Meyer, Director of the Tourism and Special Tasks Directorate at Innovation Norway, Zornitsa Rusinova, Chairman of the Economic and Social Council, and Magnar Odelien, Program Manager at Innovation Norway, participated in the debates on the business opportunities arising from the European Green Deal. Milena Stoycheva, Chairman of the National Innovation Board, also contributed to the discussion.

The conference, organized by Innovation Norway in partnership with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Norway, seeks to contribute to the achievement of the goals set in the European Green Deal. It aims to identify the challenges to business cooperation in the field of green solutions, highlight the best ways to collaborate on green business solutions, and create synergies between support under the Financial Mechanism of the European Economic Area and Norway, as well as European and national funding schemes or programs.

The event was attended by over 150 business representatives from Bulgaria, Croatia, Estonia, Greece, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway, Portugal, and Romania, who had the opportunity to establish contacts and start new partnerships to more easily overcome the challenges related to fulfilling commitments to reduce harmful emissions as stipulated in the Green Deal, while simultaneously maintaining and developing their competitiveness.
