Technical characteristics

The project is worth a total of BGN 14 277 674 exclusive of VAT, which cover the construction of a ground section of six floors and three underground levels. The price includes all finishing works, as well as basic furnishing. The total floor area of the site is 6 127 sq.m.

The building is a monument of culture of regional importance. It was erected in the 19th century. Reconstruction works started in 2007 and are scheduled for completion in early 2016.

The architectural design of BDB’s new building is by Architect Zheko Tilev and preserves the whole of the authentic façade of Hotel Bulgaria. The building was erected in 1880-1881, designed by the Czech architect Adolf Václav Kolář who worked on the first urban plan of Sofia. After 1994, the building was operated, one after the other, by the Economic Council of the Council of Ministers, BTA, Sofia Press Publishing House, the Bulgarian Airlines TABSO, the Central Cooperative Union, among others.
