Nature of works

The project aims to increase the natural gas transmission capacity at the Kulata/Sidirokastro interconnection point in the direction from Greece to Bulgaria.

The scope of work includes spatial planning, detailed engineering design, procurement of all required materials and equipment, construction, testing, commissioning, and putting into operation of the Kulata–Kresna Looping Pipeline.

The project includes the simultaneous construction of:

  • A 48 km natural gas transmission pipeline with a diameter of DN700, design pressure (DP) of 7.875 MPa, and maximum operating pressure (MOP) of 7.5 MPa;
  • Block valve stations:

    • Kulata New Block Valve Station
    • Drakata 2 Block Valve Station
    • A1 Block Valve Station
    • B1 Block Valve Station

    All with a diameter of DN700;

  • Tie-in facility and block valve stations:

    • BV 7A
    • BV 8A
    • BV 20A

    All with a diameter of DN700;

  • Kulata Pipeline Pigging Station, including a DN700 pig launcher/receiver facility and one reversible pigging chamber;
  • Kresna Pipeline Pigging Station, including a DN700 pig launcher/receiver facility and one reversible pigging chamber.
